Somehow our sailing vessel has landed in the middle of Lake Michigan which we discovered because we were suddenly in the middle of a vast quantity of angry sailors hellbent on reaching Mackinac Island. In the midst of this great flurry of confusion we ran aground on a small sand bar. Our metal indicators were flashing red so we set up a dive.
Although the visibility was very limited, "T" brought up some interesting artifacts which I will be sending on to the land assistant as soon as we are free from the sand bottom.
This inland sea doesn't provide us with much in the way of a tide, so we are trying to rock off the bottom by shooting the cannon first to the west and then to the east. I hope that our gunpowder holds out. Signing off......

We were able to gather some plastic chairs from the detritus and are attempting to melt them down and separate the chemicals into usable parcels. Possibly we may discover a new type of compound needed for breaking apart the artifacts that seem to be fused together.
We are applying the compound to the surface area of the artifact most lately uncovered on Big Mouth Island. It seems to be working. The machine has loosened up and appears to be moving on its own. Is it feeding on the chemicals or trying to escape their caustic burning?
It just vanished. Intense odor and heat...Signing off....

Running low on basic supplies-send rum and photographic emulsion-wait, I think we have spotted a cruise ship on the horizon dumping trash -perhaps we can salvage necessary equipment from their jetsam-signing off...

We have just landed on a white bar of sand to the west of Big Mouth Island. Local lore is that this was created by the last hurricane and the sand was dredged up from the very bottom of the sea. However, the sea only measures 15 feet in this part of the world so we are hopeful that some sort of artifacts will be found.
My assistant on land has informed me that we have been out of touch for almost two months but I think that only a week has passed. Possibly in that last storm we went into some kind of time warp. If I ever can find the chemicals needed to develop our film we will be able to analyze the past series of events. The sailing vessel is a jumble of boxes and specimen cases and we don't know how it got that way. Generally we are a very organized and neat crew. It may be that we have been boarded in the night by nefarious characters in search of precious artifacts.
However, I will soon be sending out a new box.We are just waiting for a passing ship. Our carrier pigeons did not survive the last month.I hope that this bottle reaches you soon.

We are moving our sailing vessel north across the Gulf of Mexico to a more favorable dig site near Charred Shop Florida. I will be out of touch for several days. I can only communicate via carrier pigeon and we may have to eat them if we are blown too far off course. My apprentice can handle my affairs in my absence. I have been unable to send photographs because of the extreme heat and lack of fresh water. My apologies. Signing off......
